Leave Paris at the Porte d’Orleans following the signs to Lyon (A6). Keep following Lyon: you now have about 2h30 (263 km/170 miles) driving before you leave the autoroute. The exit you’re looking for is at the point where the A38 branch leaves the A6 for Dijon. This is at POUILLY-EN-AUXOIS. Take the N81 SW signposted to Arnay-le-Duc and Autun. It is now 40min drive to the Château de Frétoy. Follow N81 through Arnay-le-Duc, direction Autun. 2 km from Arnay take the D36 left to Épinac. At Épinac you carry on the D36 following signs to Autun the until you hit the D973 Beaune to Autun Rd at La Drée. There you cross over the D973 signposted Morlet [D43]. After 4 km and passing under 2 TGV viaducts, you arrive at the Commune de Frétoy. Just at the junction with a right turn to Le Creusot and Tintry you’ll see the entrance to Château de Frétoy on your left.

Bon voyage!

The two most convenient routes are 1) Portsmouth-Le Havre which is much quicker on both sides of the channel if you’re coming from the South-West, Wales, The North and The Midlands; and 2) Dover-Calais by Ferry or Eurotunnel.

Then follow the signs to Paris : approx 190km (1h30) from le Havre via Autoroute A13, 290km (2h30) from Calais via Autoroute A26/ A1

If you’re coming from Le Havre, when you hit the Paris périphérique go anti-clockwise following signs A6 to Lyon. If you’re coming in on the Autoroute du Nord (A1) take the autoroute branch (A3) round the East of Paris just after Roissy airport (Charles de Gaulle) at Garonor. You join the périphérique at Porte de Bagnolet. Continue clockwise (South), following the signs to Lyon (A6).
